I remember seeing this LP of this at the record shop when it come out. It had a cool budaha on the cover and I remember reading that it had members of reason to believe in it, and the fact that REV put it out so it needed to be in my collectio. Man was I glad I got this it dident leave my turn table for weeks. I played it over and over again for next to forever. One of my favorit releases of 94, this is a re relaes of the self re released music that the band did befor signed to rev records.
So in reality 'building' was the first sense field full length since this is two EP on one releas. This is still in print at revhq.com go get your self one and enjoy it.

# 29 the beta band ''music''
This is a best of 2xcd the first cd is a true best of I has tracks from the formation of the band to there last releas. The band got big here in the states due to the film high fedility staring John Cusack and Jack Black. It centers around Cusacks cahracter Rob who is the owner of a record store trying to take stock of his love life. And Berry played by Blak as one of his employes there is a sceen in the film where the store is packed with people and Rob leans into one of the employes and says '' Im going to sell 3 copys of the 3 eps by the beta band'' and he plays 'dry the rain'. thats how I discoverd the band I ran out and got the sound track JUST for that song alone. I was in love with it I ran out and bought every cd they released. So expect to see alot more pos on them as this blog rools on. As I was saying cd 1 is a true best of with songs like 'dry the rain', 'smile' 'squares' 'wonderful' and my and my sons personal favorit 'assassment' for some reason he calles it the man song, i dont know why hes an odd little nerd. The second cd is a live, recorded over two night on there farewell concert set in England. I wish I was able to go to that. This is one band I never got to see live and always wanted to. They opend for Radio head but I hate radio head and I dident want to drive to DC and pay out the ass just to see the opening act. Im an idiot for not doing so. OH well live and learn.
# 28 revrend horton heat ''laughin and cryin''
Ok what we have here is the latest RHH releas. This come out less than a year ago, and is fantastic. Jim and co. can sure put out some killer stuff, I mean hell he has done hundreds of songs HUNDREDS!! And they all are cool! LOL he has this ability to make some of the best and funniest songs recorded. With tracks like 'pleas dont take the baby to the liquor store' 'death metal guys' and 'beer holder' who can you not love it.
When this come out my wife and I went all over creation trying to get this, she NEEDED to have it the day it dropped. I can understand that trust me I do shit like that all the time.

# 27 revrend horton heat ''smoke 'em if you got'em''
All the way back in 1992 of 1993 I went to see social distortion in Pittsburgh and RHH was the opening band. I hated them, I was to punk rock to grasp the whole amazement that is the revrend. It took me a few years to get into the rev. And how I did get into him was I was record hunting at a geat store here In Pittsburgh called Eides. While I was looking for records they were playing smoke'em i you got'em and my girlfriend ( who is now my wife ) loved it. And she bought the cd while we were there. I told her about seeing them and I never paid much attention to them and I had a 7'' or two in the collection but was always indifferent when it come to rockabilly. I mena I always loved the stray cats, elvis, and gene vincent, but that was about it. After she picked up that disc thats all she listned to! Needless to say it rubbed off on me. And I went out and started to pick up more and more RHH stuff. Now I celebrate the whole catalog, and seen him about a milion times and did an interview with them when I was a DJ. This is a reat little disc, I love the song eat steak thats my personal favorit. LOL great shit if I do say so my self.
# 26 sense field ''building''
There is just something about this band that I LOVE. The lyrical content is top notch, the music is killer this is a great releas. I dont think they ever put out a record I dont like. I got this as a promo with a cut upper right corner on the cover. I had the vinyl of this when it first come out and have bin wanting this on disc ever since I sold it. Im glad I finaly picked this up.
# 25 fastbreak ''whenever your ready''
This is another rev records releas I needed on CD for the digital conversion. Nothing special, popy hardcore. standard lyrical content, OK at best. Nothing to wright home about. A good live band and a solid releas if you ask me.
# 24 the buzz cocks ''the complete singles ...''
Back in December I took my son Jeremy to the Pittsburgh toy and comic book cov also known as the steel city con, its the largest toy con in the USA kind of cool huh. Well we walked around trying to hunt the good deals but was comming up empty handed most of the time. There was a cat there who was selling CD so I took a strool on over and was looking through the stacks of stuff. I foound a few things I wanted nothing major then I got to the last box and there was the buzz cocks 3xcd I wanted. theis was a euro releas only and quite pricy on e bay so I never went for one. I asked the guy what he wanted and I think it was something like 15 bucks. Now that is cheeper than what they were getting on e bay but still more than I wanted to drop on a used disc. I offerd him 11 I think and he took it I was happy got 4 bucks knocked off the price and I got to rock out to some of my favorit cocks songs on the way home. My son loved the songs when we got home he wanted to listen to it in his room. He is only 4 years old YES I have a cool son!
# 23 Judge ''bringin it down''
NEW YORK CITY HARDCORE! and STRAIGHT EDGE!! man O man, were they the shit I remember seeing them live for the first time when I was like 13 and it was amazing! one of the most powerful bands I ever seen live! I had two chung king can suck it come in and out of my collection. ( I hate that record it sounds like crap ) I traded my 1st copy for misfits 7"es and the second for starwars toys ( prototypes they are toy versions of a test press ) But bringin it down is the re record of the chung king LP and a much better record it is. They were the bit flag wavers of the straight edge movement with lyrics that are like being punched in the face over and over again. And the music is a damn buzz saw they mixed in a bit of metal to make the sound even more menacing. Mikes vocals were like a angry gorilla drinking draino!. The fine folks over at revhq re released all the Judge stuff on a discography. you get the original chug king recording in all it horific glory, the ep stuff and bringin it down. well worth picking up. but thats another post
# 22 cave in ''tides of tomorrow''
It wasent all that long ago that cave in was the darlings of the underground. Then they signed to a major, but keep there integrity. Befor signing they put out a killer little six song EP on there home base of hydra head records. The EP was titled ''tides of tomorrow'' The music on this is in the same relm of JUPITER rock based hardcore. sung not screamed lyrics, no chug chug guitar that is the blue print for most hardcore. Im not sure how many of them were pressed on 12'' ep or the totals sold on CD.
I always liked them live back when they were a converge rip off all the way to todays incarnation. They are starting to play out again, and recently dropped a new one on Hydra head records I have yet to pick it up. ( maby this week )

# 21 sunny day real estate ''st'' aka pink LP
Sunny day real estate is mostlikely my favorit band besides the misfits, I know that is a stark difference from each other. But Im a man of mystery. This post is for SDR second record ''st'' or also known as 'the pink LP'. When the record come out the band already broke up. But had alot of the music already recorded or were B-sides slated for releas. So the guys bit the bullet went in the studio and finished off the sessions befor throwing in the towel. If you listen to it the lyrics are very odd and alot of the time are non sensical thats because the music was recorded but the lyrics were not. So Jeremy would go into the booth and just make stuff up on the fly. LOL I think thats kind of cool and it turned out amazing! This is a very rich full sound chaotic and calming at the same time. The packaging is very sparce no thanks list, lyric sheet, pictures, any thing. When it come down to the art work for the releas the guys at sub pop couldent get a hold of any one in the band, then one morning they Called I think Nate if I remember the story correnctl and when asked wha to do for the releas he said ''make it pink'' and thats exactly what they did made it PINK!

# 20 beastie boys ''hello nasty''
The best white rappers of all time the beastie boys, man they have bin around for next to forever. As they go on they get more experimental and inovative. this is one of those bands that no matter what they put out you know there are going to be a few gems on it. This CD has 22 tracks some instromental most not. I was a DJ when this dropped and was stoked to get it befor the rest of the world and the stand out tracks on this is ''super disco breakin'' ''body movin'' ''intergalactic'' and a hell of alot of others! CMJ had a interview with them and the person asked where the title come from and they said the secretary at there label would answer the phone and say ''hello nasty'' an the guys thought that was funny and named the record that. Just a dumb little side story for ya on the title!!

# 18 blue bird ''st''
If you ask any newer hardcore record collector what label they most collect eight out of ten would say revelation records, and I fall in the catagory. They put out some of the most important bnds of the late 80 and well to today. But they did put out some crap and Blue bird is well one of them. I had this on LP when it first come out but sold it. I recently decided to put together a full revelation records collection on CD and yes that means I need the crap I dont like. Thank God for E bay I can get the junk on the cheep I got this for .99 I listend to it a few times. now it will go on the shelf in ABC order and NEVER see the inside of the disc player ever again unless someone wants to hear it.

# 17 shelter ''mantra''
Shelter was one of the Krishnacore bands I like, Them and 108. Mantra was released by supersoul/ roadrunner records. I know roadrunner the label that did napalm death put out shelter. But it worked I realy dig this CD I dont know. It a bit on the popy side but still has a old school hardcore feel to it. Lyricaly introspective and casts an eye society at large as well as animal rights.
I always liked them live they were a bit happier on stage than when I would see youth of today. In YOTD Ray always seemed angry and not having fun but shelter was the opposite they seemed to be more comfortable in there skin and on the stage.
